Our.News and Freedom Forum Institute Partner With AllSides
Fact-Checking software now includes the AllSides bias ratings of over 600 media outlets and writers, making the political leanings of hundreds of media sources transparent
WASHINGTON, April 23, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Our.News, a non-partisan online platform that helps make it easier for anyone to fact-check news and content online, together with the Freedom Forum Institute, the programs and initiatives partner of the Newseum, today announced a partnership with AllSides, a media bias rating company. The partnership will bring AllSides’ Media Bias Ratings into the company’s flagship Newstrition® tool.
Newstrition® is a suite of interactive tools that make it easy for the public to make informed decisions about what is real and what is “junk” news. Available both as free browser extensions for Chrome and Firefox, and as Software-as-a-Service tools for news platforms, Newstrition provides verified background information about thousands of news publishers, plus information on authors, editors, 3rd party fact-checks, article sources, public ratings, and more. With today’s announcement, AllSides Media Bias Ratings are now embedded within Newstrition.
“AllSides’ non-partisan approach to measuring and reporting bias provides news consumers with tremendous value,” said Richard Zack, Cofounder and CEO. “Many of our users requested this integration, and we are thrilled to incorporate their Media Bias Ratings into Newstrition.”
"AllSides is thrilled to reach a broader segment of news consumers through our integration with Newstrition. We share the mission of empowering readers by creating greater media transparency, and our bias ratings fulfill a key role in cultivating awareness about the realities of our multi-partisan media landscape," said John Gable, CEO and Co-Founder of AllSides.
“There’s nothing wrong with news publishers having political leanings, but readers should be aware of them,” said Lata Nott, Executive Director of the First Amendment Center of the Freedom Forum Institute. “Embedding AllSides’ ratings in Newstrition makes it easier for users to know what’s in the news they’re consuming.”
The AllSides Media Bias Ratings will also be included as a feature in the Company's Newstrition mobile apps, which will be available later this year.
