Maintaining its status as one of India's 'Ivy League' business schools, Institute of Management Technology Ghaziabad was recently ranked third among Private B-school in the country by Outlook India.

"From being one of the first B-schools in the private sector, IMT- Ghaziabad has come a long way, to being widely considered among the best management schools of the country," said Director, Dr. Bibek Banerjee. "All serious surveys rank IMT- Ghaziabad consistently in the Ivy League of Indian B-schools. It is widely recognised as a centre of excellence in innovation and entrepreneurship, and sets the national benchmark on international linkages and student (and faculty) exchange programmes."

IMT-G has link-ups with more than 70 institutes around the globe and believes that true business success is achieved when management graduates do well in any part of the world.

"Rankings are very important to any B-School‚" says Dr. Banerjee. "They are arrived at by the scores the participating institutes are awarded based on various parameters set by the ranking body. If a B-School wants to stay on top or become better‚ it has to pay close attention to improving itself on a continuous basis. While factors like infrastructure are important‚ the most important is the faculty. In India‚ getting good faculty is a B-School's biggest challenge."

The rankings are studied avidly by prospective and current students as well. "These rankings help us gauge what an institute is capable of giving us in terms of education‚ infrastructure‚ faculty‚ comfortable spaces to study and live in‚ and‚ very importantly‚ value for money‚" says one student, who isworking towardshis PGDM at IMT-Ghaziabad .

In order to rank India's best B-schools, Marketing & Development Research Associates (MDRA) in conjunction with Outlook India designed a rigorous methodology involving all the stakeholders - B-schools, recruiters, faculty and students. At the same time, perceptual questionnaires were designed and face-to-face interviews conducted with 753 key stakeholders. MDRA investigators visited 12 cities (Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Lucknow, Bhubaneswar and Ranchi), covering three key cities from each zone). The second phase involved verification and auditing of objective data provided by the B-schools. Initially, all information was carefully examined by checking through past data.

In addition to holding an 'A* * *' rating by CRISIL, IMT-Ghaziabad is consistently ranked among the top 10 B-Schools in India. The latest Economic Times B-School survey ranked the institute seventh overall and fifth overall based on perception by industry. It was also ranked third of all private B-Schools by Career 360's ' India's Best B-Schools ' survey.
