The Pacific Coast Business Times on Friday, April 27 profiled LetzChat, a real-time chat translation startup, and interviewed the company’s executive team, President Matthew Weisman, Chief Executive Officer Jordan Orlick, Chief Operating Officer Tyler Lucas, Chief Communication Officer Collin Alford, and Chief Marketing Officer Nathaniel Thompson.

The Business Times highlighted that LetzChat in March was named “Startup Superstar” at the Central Coast Innovation Awards, which the newspaper sponsored. The pre-accelerator Startup Boost LA has since accepted LetzChat as one of eight companies in the program out of more than 100 applicants.

We think LetzChat will be a great educational tool and [will help] to connect young people around the world.

Sarah Otterstrom, Executive Director of Paso Pacifico

In the interview with the Business Times, Lucas emphasized that LetzChat is focused on the “very tight niche” of university student services and study abroad programs, with plans to work alongside nonprofits that can benefit from the software. He explained the LetzChat software is “adaptable to different industries” and so “the room for expansion is limitless.”

Sarah Otterstrom, the executive director of the nonprofit Paso Pacifico, which focuses on sea turtle conservation in Nicaragua, told the Business Times, “We’re really excited that we’re actually going to partner with [LetzChat] to do outreach and connect our donors to our key members in Nicaragua and the public in general.” She added, “We think LetzChat will be a great educational tool and [will help] to connect young people around the world.” According to Otterstrom, Paso Pacifico will also use LetzChat to talk in real time with sea turtle rangers in Nicaragua.
