Painting For A World Record

A world record attempt is going to be made to paint a collective painting with the most amount of artists ever on one installation. This will be done virtually and is open to people worldwide to participate.

Australian website designer David Alley recently had a unique idea. He built a website and has a million "dots" for sale. These dots can be bought for just $1 and painted on a virtual canvas on the website. David is hoping that what will eventuate will be a beautiful piece of collective art. People who buy the dots get to decide what colour and where on the canvas to put their dot.

If more than 28300 participate in painting dots, this will supersede an existing world record for most artists on one piece of artwork.

David has been working on the concept for several months now writing website code and setting everything up. Finally the project was completed last week.

All that is needed now is to get 28000 people to participate in painting dots. David invites people to be the first group to make a start with the "virtual paintbrush."

You can see the website at www.paintadot.com

When the painting is finished, it will be auctioned on eBay and the profit from sale will be donated to orphans in Cambodia. Proceeds from the sale of dots go to a combination of charity and personal debt relief for David and his family
