One of Palace Travel's newest tours is its 13-Day Tour of Senegal & South Africa (November 29, 2012 - December 11, 2012). Offering travelers an intimate look at these countries' history, culture, and environment the 13-day tour will feature pleasant activities such as a guided game drive through a South African National Park and a visit to Senegal's Pink Lake, an ecological marvel colored deep pink by its high concentration of salt. Combined with tours of historical sites and opportunities to visit local markets and resort casinos, the tour offers a litany of memorable experiences.
The itinerary of the tour is listed below.

*Day 1 : November 29, 2012 - DEPART USA*

Depart New York's JFK Airport for the overnight flight to Senegal.


*Day 2 : November 30, 2012 - ARRIVE IN DAKAR, SENEGAL*

EARLY MORNING arrive in Dakar. You will be met, assisted and transferred to your hotel. This afternoon you will go on a tour of metropolitan Dakar. You will visit the colorful markets including Tilen Market, famous for a variety of medicinal herbs and traditional healers, the National Art Gallery and the picturesque district of Medina. This evening there is a welcome dinner.

*Day 3 : December 1, 2012 - DAKAR-GOREE ISLAND*

After breakfast, you will take the 20 minute ferry ride to Goree Island, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.The tour includes a visit to the ethnographic museum, and a lecture by the curator on the history of the Island. In the afternoon return to Dakar and continue the city tour started yesterday.

*Day 4 : December 2, 2012 - PINK LAKE AND NEARBY FULANI VILLAGE*

After breakfast we travel to Pink Lake, a rare natural phenomena caused by a unique combination of micro-organism and a high concentration of salt which gives the lake its pink color. Interact with the women harvesting salt then visit the nearby Fulani Village where you will be welcomed by the Chief and his wives. You may explore the dunes in 4x4 vehicles.
Or, you may participate in optional activities including morning service at Zion Church. The church operates a Medical Centre and Orphanage.

Late afternoon return to your hotel and prepare for this evenings dinner and activities

*Day 5 : December 3, 2012 - DAKAR - CAPETOWN, SOUTH AFRICA*

Transfer to the airport for flight to Cape Town. Meet assist and transfer to hotel.

*Day 6 : December 4, 2012 - TABLE MOUNTAIN, CAPETOWN, ROBBEN ISLAND*

Today you will tour Cape Town and environs starting with a cable car ride to Table Mountain. The state-of-the-art cable car rotates 360 degrees on its way to the top, offering a panoramic view of the City. At the summit you will enjoy a magnificent view of Cape Town. After Table Mountain you will visit the City Centre, the Company Gardens, the Castle of Good Hope and the Milnerton Lighthouse from where there is a perfect photo opportunity of the magnificent Table Mountain.

In the afternoon, you will take the ferry to Robben Island. This historic landmark is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Cape Town where this evening's dinner will be at The Africa Cafe.

*Day 7 : December 5, 2012 - CAPETOWN*

Today we will visit the picturesque 'Malay Quarter', a living cultural museum and home to the oldest Mosque in the Southern Hemisphere. Discover the unique culture, lifestyle and personality of the Cape Muslim community and observe their contribution to South Africa's development.

In the afternoon visit Nazareth House, where the Sisters of Nazareth care for the aged as well as, orphans. This evening dinner will be in a private home accompanied with music and poetry. You will be invited to display your artistic and musical skill.

*Day 8 : December 6, 2012 - CAPETOWN - JOHANNESBURG*

Spend the day at leisure or shopping at the fascinating Victoria & Alfred Waterfront. Early evening you will be transferred to the airport for the 2 hour flight to Johannesburg. You will be met and transferred to your hotel.

*Day 9 : December 7, 2012 - JOHANNESBURG AND SOWETO*

Full day tour to understand the old and new South Africa.
Visit: Constitution Hill, The Hector Petersen Memorial, Regina Mundi Church, Chris Hani Baragwanath--Hospital the largest hospital in the world, President Mandela's former home, and other landmarks.

Lastly, enjoy dinner at a restaurant on Nelson Mandela Square.

*Day 10 : December 8, 2012 - JOHANNESBURG - PILANESBURG*

Today you will travel to Pilanesberg game reserve. You will stop at Sun City, Africa's Las Vegas and an award winning casino and fantasy resort. In the evening continue to Pilanesburg National Park for an evening game drive in search of lions, elephants, white and black rhinos, buffaloes, leopards, zebras, hyenas, giraffes, hippos and other species in their natural habitat.

*Day 11 : December 9, 2012 - PILANESBURG - JOHANNESBURG*

Before breakfast enjoy an early morning game drive to have another look at the "big five" and other animals. After breakfast return to Johannesburg arriving early afternoon. This evening enjoy the farewell dinner.

*Day 12 : December 10, 2012 - JOHANNESBURG*

Day at leisure with enough time to secure great bargains in crafts, jewelry and other items. This evening you will be transferred to the airport for the onward flight.
