Palo Alto Family YMCA to Host Free World Culture Fair Saturday, Sept. 11
Online, September 3, 2010 (Newswire.com) - PALO ALTO, CA - Palo Alto Family YMCA announced today that its World Culture Fair will take place Saturday, Sept. 11, from 3:30 to 6 p.m. The free event will be held at 3412 Ross Road in Palo Alto.
The World Culture Fair-a unique event that is open to the general public-celebrates the diversity of the local community and showcases cultural talent living in Palo Alto and the surrounding Bay Area. Palo Alto Family YMCA's Diversity Committee is organizing the fair, which will feature musical and dance entertainment for people of all ages.
"Our World Culture Fair is a terrific way for individuals and families to come together to celebrate our community's diversity," said Patty Doolittle, director of Administrative Services at the Y. "We want the general public and our members to spend a few hours with us and celebrate Palo Alto's culture and diversity through music and dance performances for an exciting afternoon."
The event will feature performances by local world dance and music groups, who are volunteering their time to entertain. Performances will include Indian Classical and Folk dance, Irish Step dance, Russian Folk dance, Hula, and Chinese Guzheng music (ancient lute). Belly Dance and Hula performers from the Y's Belly Dance and Hula classes also will perform, led by instructors Yolanda Jenks and Nerissa Wong-VanHaren.
