Panel Focuses on Solutions to Japan's Drug Problem
The Church of Scientology Tokyo hosted an International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking drug prevention forum to look at the issue and successful programs to curb drug abuse.
Tokyo, Japan, July 11, 2016 (Newswire.com) - A forum at the Church of Scientology Tokyo on International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking emphasized prevention.
The event, held in the chapel of the new Church, featured a presentation by the Japanese Association of Drug Measures on the Truth About Drugs drug prevention campaign. The program covers the drugs of choice in Japan: Methamphetamine and synthetics (also know as NSPs—new psychoactive substances).
Panelist then discussed their views on the drug problem. Subjects covered were abuse of marijuana, the proliferation of drugs in Japanese universities and the importance of reaching youth with factual information on the effects of drugs before they begin to abuse illicit substances.
This aligned with the theme for the day selected by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime—“Listen First”—emphasizing the importance of fact-based drug education to help youth make self-determined decisions to live drug-free.
The Church of Scientology Tokyo is an Ideal Scientology Organization. Its facilities are configured to service Scientologists in their ascent to spiritual freedom and serve as a home for the entire community—a meeting ground of cooperative effort to uplift citizens of all denominations.
