Parker Realtor Aims To Make A Difference With Food Drive

Online, November 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Parker Re/Max Realtor Doug Jones has organized a food drive in two area neighborhoods to help residents most in need this holiday season.

On Nov. 10, Jones will collect nonperishable foods, grocery store gift cards and monetary donations at the following locations: from 10 a.m. to noon at the Stroh Ranch Recreational Center, 19301 J Morgan Blvd., Parker, CO 80134; and from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Canterberry Crossing pool parking lot, at the corner of Canterberry Parkway and Canterberry Trail. He also is accepting donations between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. from now through Nov. 10 at the Parker Re/Max office, 18551 E. Main St., Suite 2A, Parker, CO 80134.

All donations will be delivered to the Parker Task Force/Food Bank (www.parkertaskforce.org), a nonprofit organization that provides assistance to the Parker, Franktown and Elizabeth residents who need it most. The Task Force, which has been operated solely by dedicated volunteers since 1987, provides short-term food bank visits and limited financial assistance to more than 500 area families in crisis.

According to Steve Budnack, chairman of the Parker Task Force/Food Bank, the number of those in the area who need assistance and food has risen 28 percent in the past year. "We are currently entering our busiest time of year at the food bank," he said, "and the need has never been greater."

This unprecedented need led Jones to organize the food drive as part of his promise to "Make a Difference" in the Parker community (www.sellingparkerhomes.com/difference/).
