Parker & Sons Educated on Winter Energy Savings

Winter will soon be creeping up, and even in the desert that means it’s almost time to turn on the heater. Nighttime temperatures below 40°F are common through the month of March, so if individuals are not turning on the furnace it is going to be getting cold. With the joy of reduced cooling costs comes the misery of increased heating cost. Parker & Sons advises, that homeowners do not have to settle for a high energy bill during the winter. There are many clever ways to save on energy costs during the winter.

Parker & Sons notes that the sun provides free heating all year long, no matter the season. Homeowners can take advantage of this to lessen the load they will be placing on their heating unit. Parker & Sons advises that it is wise to open the curtains covering south facing windows. Sunlight will flood into the home and naturally heat it. Best of all, the ambient warmth gathered during the day will gradually release at night time providing extra heat.

"This is an important thing for people to realize, they don't have to be spending a fortune to stay warm during the winter. Sure the heater is a great tool, but it is only one of the many tools they have in their arsenal," said Josh Kelly of Parker & Son.

Parker & Sons promotes the power of bundling up. Sweaters, sweatshirts, blankets, long underwear, and warm headwear can all help to keep an individual toasty warm even during the most frigid of winter nights. The human body itself creates a good deal of warmth. By bundling up, this warmth is captured and out to work.

Parker & Sons further advises Phoenicians on the power of eliminating drafts. According to a study conducted by the United States Department of Energy, individuals could save up to 30 percent on their energy bills by covering up draft windows or doors and be sealing air leaks. The more warm air that is trapped in the home, the less work the heating unit will have to do.

It is also important for furnaces and heaters to be inspected on a yearly basis. Simply cleaning the heater and replacing worn parts can result in massive savings on the monthly energy bill.

“This is an important thing for people to realize, they don’t have to be spending a fortune to stay warm during the winter. Sure the heater is a great tool, but it is only one of the many tools they have in their arsenal,” said Josh Kelly of Parker & Son.
