The partnership between Trinity Fire Partners and Life Safety Consortium will help promote safety awareness under codes NFPA 80 and NFPA 101 to various industries.
NFPA 80 is the standard that regulates the installation and maintenance of assemblies and devices used to protect openings in walls, floors, and ceilings against the spread of fire and smoke within, into, or out of buildings.
NFPA 101, Life Safety Code, provides strategies to protect people based on building construction, protection, and occupancy features that minimize the effects of fire and related hazards.
The new partnership between Trinity Fire Partners and Life Safety Consortium will develop a monthly newsletter and training program available through online webinar. The purpose of these materials will be to inform and educate facility managers about fire alarms, fire prevention, electrical issues, and any other fire related topics.

Explaining NFPA 80
NFPA 80 requires inspection and compliance of the following:
- No holes or breaks in door or frame.
- All glass is intact and secured.
- Door, frame, and hardware are in proper working order.
- There are no missing or broken parts on the door or operating items.
- Door clearances are within allowable limits.
- Door closures and spring hinges are operational, and the door is self-closing.
- Inspector ensures the door closes in proper sequence (pairs only).
- The door is self-latching in the closed position.
- Opening is not equipped with auxiliary hardware that may interfere with proper operation.
- No field modifications have been performed that void the label.
- Gaskets and edge seals, where required, are present, continuous, and the proper type for a fire door.
