Partnership to Reduce Assaults and End Relationship Violence Announced Between ROAR for Good and the One Love Foundation

ROAR for Good is partnering with The One Love Foundation to contribute to ending relationship violence and reducing assaults through prevention.

ROAR for Good and The One Love Foundation today announced a partnership to advance both organizations’ work to reduce violence in communities across the nation.

The One Love Foundation in honor of Yeardley Reynolds Love was created in 2010 to honor the memory of Yeardley Love, a UVA senior who was beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend just weeks before graduation.  One Love is working with young people across the country to raise awareness about the warning signs of abuse and activate communities to work to change the statistics around relationship violence.

Social-mission certified B-Corp ROAR for Good is launching their flagship product Athena on Indiegogo today. ROAR’s line of smart, fashionable jewelry is designed to help protect women in dangerous situations. For each device purchased, ROAR is taking a percentage of proceeds and investing in nonprofits teaching empathy, respect, and healthy relationships to youth.

ROAR co-founders Yasmine Mustafa and Anthony Gold, both serial entrepreneurs, joined forces to develop ROAR’s first device that can help deter attacks and instantly call for help.

“Athena’s design embodies our mission to empower women worldwide to live their lives boldly and without fear. The device is simple to use and effortlessly stylish, elegantly combining safety and fashion,” says ROAR CEO, Yasmine Mustafa.

“One in three women and one in four men will experience relationship violence in their lifetime,” says One Love Managing Director Seanna Bruno. “ROAR and The One Love Foundation share the goal of reducing these stats and believe that change is possible.”

“We don’t want to just put a bandaid on the problem,” says ROAR co-founder Anthony Gold. “Getting to the root causes of violence requires greater levels of awareness, education, and peer modeling. This partnership between One Love and ROAR represents a big step toward fulfilling our mutual passion of reducing assaults and transforming society.”

Athena will sell for $99 and is now available for pre-order through Indiegogo beginning today. Early bird pricing begins at $59, with a projected production release in Spring 2016. You can pre-order Athena at http://igg.me/at/roarforgood

About One Love Foundation

The One Love Foundation in honor of Yeardley Reynolds Love was created in 2010 to honor the memory of Yeardley Love, a UVA senior who was beaten to death by her ex-boyfriend just weeks before graduation.  After her death, Yeardley’s family and friends were surprised to learn the statistics – that 1 in 3 women and 1 in 4 men in this country will be in a violent relationship in his or her lifetime and that young women and men ages 16-24 are at 3x greater risk. Today, One Love’s ambitious goal is to end relationship violence by educating, empowering and activating young people in a movement for social change.  To achieve this, One Love develops creative technology-based tools and resources that meet young people where they are and inspire them to action.
