Patricia Berkly LLC team grants interviews to Blue Funk Radio regarding workplace bullying and students with disabilities.
Online, August 11, 2013 (Newswire.com) - Dr. Leah Hollis and Dr. Jeffrey Holmes, lead consultants for Patricia Berkly LLC have made the rounds on the Ric Bratton Radio Show: Blue Funk Radio/ "This Week in America." Both consultants have over 20 years' experience speaking, training and researching on their respective content areas of workplace bullying, access, equity, athletics and Americans with Disabilities issues.
In May, Dr. Hollis reflected on her book, BULLY IN THE IVORY TOWER and commented on the student athlete abuse scandal at Rutgers. Bratton had commented "how can this be tolerated in athletics when it isn't tolerated anywhere else in the university?" However, Bratton went on to comment that BULLY IN THE IVORY TOWER documented that bullying and abuse occurs at a rate of 62% across the university. Not only is aggressive behavior prevalent in athletics, but it occurs throughout academic ranks, student affairs and most sectors of colleges and universities. Further, Rutgers is not the only school; they just happen to be the school that was caught this time.
In August, Dr. Holmes reflected on the critical back to school time for students with learning disabilities with his book, ACCESSIBLE COLLEGE: A Guide to Transition Students with Disabilities from High School to College. Self-advocacy is key to students with learning disabilities. Unlike the support students with disabilities received in the K-12 sector, the support students with disabilities receive in college are based on a students own self advocacy. They are expected to submit their own medical work, and seek registration for possible accommodations. Knowing the terms, mastering self-advocacy and creating a support network in college is key to successful transition and academic success in college.
