Patricia Vonne Stars in 48-Hour Film Project

The eight minute movie, which tells the story of a rouge cop, screens at 6:00 pm and 9:00 pm on Thursday August 23, 2012 at the Santikos Bijou Theater.

The 48-Hour Film Project kicked off last weekend and one team that formed at in the final weeks of registration almost never was. "The 2012 48-Hour Film Project was something I had always wanted to do, and coming off of placing in the Semi-Finals of the Charleston International Film Festival, I wanted to keep the momentum but needed a spark," said Director and Screenwriter D.R. Pedraza.

That spark came in the form of 1st AD and Producer Monica Lee Perez.

"Monica was someone I came across in Linked-In and I sent her an email asking if she wanted to participate," Pedraza said. "She said yes so the next call I made was to an old friend, Patricia Vonne and I asked if she was available to take the lead."

Vonne, who recently wrapped her brother Robert Rodriguez's film "Machete II," was available so Pedraza set out to complete the cast and crew. Joining Vonne (Desperado, Sin City, Spy Kids) in the cast are veteran actors Eric Reinholt (Murder By The Book, Cross, Wedding Day) and Glynn Praesel ( The Rich Mullins Story, Palo Pinto Gold, Hitting The Wall).

The crew, which came together quickly and ran smoothly under the guidance of former Hollywood Producer and Director Robert Nowotny, shot the film on Saturday at the residence of former Kiss FM General Manager Virgil Thompson.

"Virgil Thompson was instrumental in helping us get this film done and we could not have asked for a better location," Producer Kathleen Hartman said. "He was our knight in shining armor!"

One thing that the cast and crew did not know was that during filming, the team lost it's editor.

"Yeah, the guy we had to back out because of a medical emergency but pointed us in the right direction." So, during a small break in filming, Pedraza called a total stranger who turned out to be an old acquaintance. "I called the number given to me and it ended up being Jorge Alberto Infante from Keith Harter Music Studios whom I met a couple of years back with Michael Guerra," Pedraza said. "Jorge was a lifesaver and he did an awesome editing job in a very short time."

And speaking of Michael Guerra, he was on a break from his gig with the Superstar Country Group The Mavericks and lent his time and talent as the film's Music Editor. "He's one of my best friends and I wouldn't have anybody else do it," Pedraza said.
