Online, February 23, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Paul's Project announced today that it was selected as the recipient charity by the offices of Drs. Kochenour and Nichols for their 7th Annual Halloween Candy Buy Back program and has received an $850 donation.
Through this program, the orthodontics office offers $1 for every pound of Halloween candy donated and, in turn, donates $1 per pound to a selected charity. This year the donation was "supersized" due to a large drop-off by Julie Woodka, a PE teacher from Curtis Fundamental School in Clearwater whose students donated 348 pounds of candy! Adding to the donation was candy money donated back to the cause by many patients. All of the candy collected is then shipped out through the "Support Our Troops Organization" founded by Bob Williams of Wesley Chapel and troops overseas received the candy in time for Christmas.
"Paul's Project is honored to be the recipient of such a "sweet" donation to kick off the New Year", said Amy Whitehurst, Founder and CEO of Paul's Project. "Drs. Kochenour and Nichols and their staff are teaching valuable lessons to their patients that benefit many - here at home and overseas. We are so proud to have been recognized by this innovative and inspiring group."
