Mike will bring a unique view to this discussion since he is an experienced eCommerce professional and the inventor of the Paydunk mobile app specifically designed to help reduce checkout abandonment and increase repeat sales. “The risk of losing a sale increases significantly when the checkout funnel is not optimized for an efficient checkout process on all types of devices. With more and more people using their mobile devices to shop, the effort to enter long form information can inhibit the completion of a sale”, said Marenick.

Technology is changing rapidly and eCommerce retailers will have to keep up with technology if they want to compete in today’s online markets. Online sales are projected to reach over $600 billion dollars by 2018. For the first time last year mobile devices outpaced desktop devices for internet access. The ability to convert sales on mobile platforms may be the key to distinguishing a great eCommerce site from an average one.

Mike added “I began to notice my websites conversion rate was dropping.  I dug into the analytics and I discovered there was a shift in what devices my customers were using to browse and checkout online.  Two years ago nearly all of my customers shopped from their PC.  Now more then half are using a mobile device.”  Conversion for desktop computers averages 4%. On mobile it it drops to only 1%.  The shift in user behavior was responsible for the drop in sales.  Standard checkout forms are cumbersome even when you are comfortably sitting at a desk. Completing the same checkout process on a small touch screen becomes much more difficult. The result is a frustrated customer that abandons their purchase.

The original long form checkout funnel has simply not kept pace with advancements in technology.  Paydunk solves this poor user experience by eliminating the QWERTY keyboard and all checkout forms.  There are no accounts to set up, no user names or passwords to remember, and the experience is the same on any device - mobile phone, tablet or desktop.

The Paydunk mobile app launched in app stores in July. Paydunk is actively integrating new websites weekly. Attendees can visit booth number 416 for a full demonstration. Consumers can download the app and experience a virtual online shopping experience on the company’s playground website TryPaydunk.com.
