“’OLIVE YOU, European Table Olives’ participation in the Summer Fancy Food Show 2018 was a major success,” said the President of PEMETE, Mr. Nelos Georgoudis. “Our main goals were achieved, providing information to the participants as well as leading to B2B meetings and further expansion of B2B agreements.”
The 46 member-companies of PEMETE represent more than 90 percent of Greece’s exports of table olives to more than 100 countries. These companies export some outstanding and unique Greek table olive varieties, including Konservolia, a variety mostly grown in Central Greece, Chalkidiki, mostly found in Northern Greece, and Kalamata olives, which are mainly but not exclusively grown in the regions of Etoloakarnania and Laconia. Small quantities of Throuba and Megaritiki varieties are also included in their product range. The greatest advantage of Greek table olives is that the fruit ripens naturally on the trees. In other words, they are natural, with no chemical means used to make them black.
