Penn Station Athlete of the Year 2015
Penn Station East Coast Subs Athlete of the Year 2015 Announced
Springfield, IL, June 8, 2015 (Newswire.com) - $1,000 Scholarship Awarded to Pleasant Plains Student
This year’s Penn Station Athlete of the Year and winner of a $1,000 scholarship is Kailey Peterson of Pleasant Plains. For the first year, Penn Station East Coast Subs searched the Springfield & surrounding communities for high school seniors who excelled in the classroom and on the field.
Kailey not only strived as a member of the soccer & basketball teams, but off the court she excelled in school with a GPA of 3.661. Upon graduating, Kailey plans to attend Augustana College where she will pursue a major in Pre-Veterinary Medicine.
“Being in sports while in high school has taught me how to balance my time. I’m good with having homework and a game the same day,” says Kailey.
This is the first year for the Penn Station Athlete of the Year program. Mike Hicks, managing owner of Rock & Fire, LLC/Penn Station Springfield, started the program to acknowledge all of the wonderful accomplishments of area students.
“Kailey as well as all of our seasonal nominees are great examples of the importance of student athletics in our schools. Team sports instill key values, life lessons & team building skills on the field that translate into the classroom and beyond,” says Mike. “I’d like to thank the community for being great supporters of this program and making this year a success.”
