Peter Rourk to Lead the National Expansion of Monarch Private Capital
Charlotte, NC, March 8, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Monarch Private Capital (MPC), a national investor in affordable housing, solar energy, and historic preservation, announced the promotion of Peter Rourk to Head of National Sales. In this new role, Rourk will lead the nationwide expansion of the company’s operations through strategic tax credit investment programs.
Rourk joined the company in 2013, opening its North Carolina office following the state’s establishment of a Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Portfolio Standard (REPS). During that time, Monarch Private Capital invested in utility-sized renewable energy farms across the state, constructing five funds totaling $160 million.
“We have investors across the state from Wilmington to Asheville, producing power to 130,000 homes, creating 1,600 construction jobs a year, and reducing the CO2 footprint by 800,000 tons for North Carolina,” says Rourk.
North Carolina has become a powerful example for the rest of the country, catapulting from the 25th position to number 4 in the nation in renewable energy since 2010.
“It’s a collective effort,” adds Rourk, acknowledging policies coupled with the synergy of tax credits investment opportunities created an environment that has attracted individual investors, as well as corporate giants like Google and Amazon.
“Peter’s value to the organization cannot be overstated,” says George Strobel, MPC’s Co-CEO and Managing Director of Tax Credit Investments. “He is extremely smart with an investment perspective focused on each stakeholder’s success. That kind of leadership is crucial to our expansion. We’re fortunate that he has agreed to help lead us in this phase of our growth.”
Prior to MPC, Rourk served as Director of Business Development for American Express, giving him more than two decades of experience in financial services and corporate sales with Fortune 1000 companies. A native of North Carolina, Rourk has focused on the state’s powerful legislative and business base surrounding its thriving private clean energy projects. Rourk’s work supports renewable energy research and innovation by fostering investments in solar, bio-degradable, and wind projects which meet state and federal guidelines for efficient and clean carbon neutral power generation.
Rourk earned a BA in English from The College of Charleston and performed graduate work at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
