Pets to Be X-Rayed For Bombs!
Airport regulations are changing for pet owners. Afraid that terrorist will use domesticated animals for foul play, all internationally traveling pets will be forced to ride through the x-ray belt.
Online, April 14, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Traveling pets are to be subjected to more scrutinous security measures while passing through airports. Not only will pet owners send their pet carriers thru x-ray belts, Israeli security services have allegedly planned a new procedure for screening at national airports which will demand suspect animals to go through the same x-ray equipment to confirm that bombs have not been concealed inside their stomach by terrorists.
Any pet owner who does not comply will be forced to leave their pet in the airport or not fly. The new screening procedures are not intended for every pet, just pets whose owners appear suspicious. Security officials at Ben Gurion Airport, south of Tel Aviv, decline discussion with the media.
Only two incidents have happened at Ben Gurion, both resolved after pet owners realized they would not be able to fly without passing their pets through the x-ray machines. Neither animal was determined to be a terrorist. Although in the past, terrorists have used live animals to carry bombs.
Animals are generally already scanned with their owner. Most pet owners outrage with the new policy is the radiation that their pet will be subjected to while passing through the x ray machine.
It is estimated that nearly six percent of pet owners travel on airlines with their pets.
