Philly Startup Is Giving $800k Worth Of Its Technology Away, To Help Other Startup Teams Succeed

'Crowdfunding' success enables The Gabriel Institute to help thousands of entrepreneurs, startup teams, and startup incubator programs

Soon, thousands of entrepreneurial teams and startup incubators will have free access to a completely new 'technology of teaming', thanks to a successful crowdfunding project launched by The Gabriel Institute. TGI's 'Teamability™ for 10,000 Entrepreneurs' campaign raised over $40,000.00 in 40 days.

"About a year ago, we heard that startup companies produce almost 100% of new jobs in the U.S. economy" says Dr. Janice Presser, CEO at TGI. "It seemed impossible, but we found the research by the Kauffman Foundation that proved it was true. And through our own research, we knew that a failure to 'team' well can cripple just about any entrepreneurial effort - even well-funded ones."

The firm had already developed a way to predict entrepreneurial capability, but did not have the means to launch it as a second product. "That's where Teamability intersected with crowdfunding," explains TGI's EVP Mark Talaba. "We thought that if we could raise enough funding to bring Teamability for Entrepreneurs online, it would only be fair to 'pay it forward' by giving back to the entrepreneurial community."

Alex Knapp, an editor at Forbes who writes about the future of science and technology, gave the 'T410K' campaign big mid-course boost. In his article on Forbes.com, he noted "When managers and employees better understand their preferred Roles, job responsibilities can be adjusted to ensure that the team functions together as easily as possible. The reports are generated through self-directed tests that seem simple" he adds, "but I can tell you from experience that they're quite insightful."

Teamability was created to fill a gap in the way organizations select and structure their teams. Unlike the familiar measures of IQ, personality traits, strengths, and engagement, TGI's technology was engineered to elicit and to measure the quality with which a person will 'team' with others to achieve common goals.

Twenty-five years of research and testing, including 9 years of software development, by Dr. Presser and TGI co-founder, Dr. Jack Gerber, led to the commercial launch of Teamability late in 2009. Since then, Teamability has been used in over 120 corporations, institutions, government and non-profit organizations, with award-winning business results. Preferred Sands, a fast-growing $1.5 billion company, was presented with a SuperNova® Award for Emerging Technology, in recognition of its success with Teamability in solving team productivity problems, while virtually eliminating new-hire turnover.

Now, with the funding campaign behind it, TGI is gearing up to complete the new technology component, and to make the 10,000 uses of Teamability available -- at no charge -- to entrepreneurs working in startup incubators, business accelerators, and entrepreneurship education programs.
