Picturesque - An exhibition of paintings by Gabriella Parádi

Hungarian artist Gabriella Parádi to open new exhibition of her work in Budapest

Gabriella Parádi started her career in 1991 when she entered the Air France-Nina Ricci competition for young fashion designers in Paris. A mature individual at a very young age, Gabriella decided to take her career into her own hands. She chose the hard way, to make it on her own.

Gabriella considered Eric Vogel the uncrowned king of set and costume design to be her master, the very same Eric Vogel who after seeing Gabriellas work announced he had found his successor!

Concentrating initially on fashion design, Gabriella later became more and more interested
In the film and theater world. She has since worked on many successful Hungarian films such as Zimmer Feri, Argo and the Steam Train is Leaving to name but a few.

In 2000, she finally turned her hand to costume design creating the complete wardrobe for the multi million dollar grand reopening of the Budapest revue bar, the Moulin Rouge. Since then she has gone on to work on many outstanding stage and theater productions such as: The dog, who called Mr. Bozza, Eniko Eszenyi's Ping Swing, and at the request of Marko Ivan the Hungarian Festival Ballet's production MennyegzÅ'.

Working for the last few years with a mind boggling array of Hungarian photographers, video directors, make-up artists and hair stylists, all people with creative passion and vision has significantly affected Gabrialla's work, creating a fusion and transience of the fashion stage, film and theater worlds.

Her designs can regulary be seen in such iconic publications as Joy, Playboy, Meetings, Elite, IM, Cosmopolitan and Shape magazines.

The paintings to be exhibited are the results of a new experiment.

On the one hand, showcasing the illustrations in great sizes are sometimes criticism of society, sometimes they are simply the conversion of the grotesque world of fashion into decoration. The feeling of retro, the lustre of high-society life appear in the pictures as well as the affects of jazz and music.

The exhibition will be opened by EnikÅ' Eszenyi, theater director and Kossuth award winning actress.
