PJ's Funeral Planners being recognized in local community

PJ's Funeral Planners is being recognized once again in the press for generous services to a local family of Baltimore City

On April 17th 2010 news networks aired this story- A 22-year-old man has been charged with murder in the death of his 2-year-old daughter and is being held without bail.

Tyrone Hamber has been charged in the death of Melody Hamber, who died at Johns Hopkins Hospital.

Baltimore city police went Saturday to the 2900 block of East Hoffman Street after receiving a report about an unresponsive child.

According to charging documents, Hamber later confessed that he beat the girl with a belt because she had let his dogs into the house when he told her not to do so. Police said he claimed he was trying to discipline the child.

When Paris Evans / CEO of PJ's Funeral Planners saw this story she made a comment about it on "Facebook" in response to her post someone made a personal comment which prompted Paris to ask their relation to the child. The person replied stating that she was the aunt of the child. Later that day Paris saw a call for help on facebook for this family who was having some financial issues in paying for the funeral services of Baby Melody Jefferson, that's when Paris took action.

"I knew I had to find a way to help this baby be laid to rest. She deserved to have a proper burial and I had to make it happen", Paris says.

Paris was able to reach out to some very important people in her lifeline, one of which was Rev. Dr. Frank M. Reid III of BETHEL AME CHURCH 1300 Druid Hill Avenue Baltimore, Maryland 21217

" Rev. Reid immediately responded to my call and said Sis Paris let's sit down and talk about it", I sat down with Rev. Reid the Saturday before Mothers Day and went over the situation of the family by the end of our meeting we were handed a receipt which read "PAID IN FULL" from March Funeral Homes", Paris says.

Later that afternoon Paris had the opportunity to meet with the family of Baby Melody Jefferson and listen to their stories of Melody's life and their struggles as well as hopes for the future. Paris then presented to the family a copy of that receipt which read "PAID IN FULL".

"The look on that families faces, the enormous hugs and tears that I was showered with were the best Mothers Day gift I could have been given", Paris says.

No family should ever have to endure the loss of a child to such violence. No mother should have to bury her baby 2 weeks before mother's day. No person should want to or inflict such pain on an innocent life with no remorse for their actions. And no family should have to worry about how long it will be until they can provide a home-going service for their child because of the lack of ability to pay.

Thanks to the generous donations and caring concern of charitable donations we are able to reach out to families who find themselves faced which such dilemmas.

"My goal is to accommodate the needs of people faced with making these life changing decisions. To assist them through what could be a financial hardship by not being educated on what they are purchasing or signing on the dotted line for from funeral home establishments. It is a personal priority to educate and walk them through this whole journey to provide hope, a memorialization and healing but even more self-empowerment", Paris says.

PJ's Funeral Planners is the first known nationwide funeral planner who will accommodate the needs of grieving families that will assist and guide them through such a delicate and trying time. Back in 2004 reporter Robert Powell of CBS did an article titled "A Crying Need for Funeral Planners", he touched base on the funeral industry and how there are no independent planners to consult advice or moderate to families in detail about services being rendered.
