Platform-independent archiving solution offers maximum flexibility and security

Permanently low operating costs on a long-term basis: iCAS offers long-term and, as data and documents can be archived to any storage medium, future-proof archiving

With its archiving solution iCAS, iTernity GmbH offers users a manufacturer- and platform-independent middleware. The advantage: existing storage and recovery systems can be used and thus costs saved, thanks to the openness of the solution. In addition, software licenses only need to be purchased once. iCAS therefore distinguishes itself from competitor products, which are generally coupled with hardware and thus require several licenses if hardware is changed within the archiving period. With iCAS, companies can therefore benefit from permanently low operating costs. In terms of the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO), over a 10 to 20-year period, iCAS offers a price advantage of around 30 percent compared with other archiving solutions available on the market. Thanks to the simple data migration at file system level, the very latest in storage systems can always be used. Data integrity is therefore also guaranteed for future technology upgrades, with minimum outlay. The application is also infinitely scalable, that is, the archive size can be adapted in line with all relevant customer requirements. Users can also decide whether they want to also encrypt or compress their data. The solution works with patented and compliant Content Storage Containers (CSC). "This technology enables statutory storage periods to be adhered to exactly and managed differentiated," says Ralf Steinemann, Business Development Manager at iTernity. The iCAS servers can also be operated as virtual appliances, thereby offering additional advantages when hardware is replaced, updated, or maintained during operation, for example. iCAS solutions are available from partners only.

The acronym iCAS stands for iTernity Compliant Archive Solution. The solution is delivered as a completely pre-installed appliance and can be integrated effortlessly into the existing infrastructure. Administrators therefore do not require any additional special knowledge or time-consuming training. All applications, such as ERP, e-mail, DMS and ECM systems, access the middleware via a web service interface or the file system interface and store the data there automatically. Any backup solutions can also be integrated into existing processes.

iCAS is characterized by its openness. The solution is based on proven industry standards, rather than proprietary operating systems. The source code of the solution is deposited at TÃœV-Sud, to provide customers with maximum investment protection. Furthermore, legal experts vouch for the legal compliance of the solution. Users are thus guaranteed maximum flexibility and security when it comes to the audit-proof archiving of their data.
