PODS® Lexington Makes Support For Local Nonprofits Part Of Business Model
Moving and storage company makes 'giving back' to the community a priority, saves charities more than $30,600 in operational logistics
Online, February 20, 2013 (Newswire.com) - In 2012, PODS® Lexington, a moving and storage company, helped support many local nonprofits throughout the greater Lexington area and counties by donating more than $30,600 in operational services by providing a wealth of safe and secure PODS® containers.
After the devastating West Liberty tornado in March 2012, PODS Lexington stepped up to supply their reliable PODS® containers to donate multiple food and water resources to the 3,200 residents left homeless. The moving and storage company also helped collect more than 6,500 pounds of canned food for Kentucky's hungry during the "Stock the PODS® container for God's Pantry" food drive throughout November. Other nonprofits the moving and storage company supports include: Lexington Art League, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, Once Upon a Story children's book festival and Toys for Tots, the national charity of PODS® Enterprises, Inc. PODS Lexington is also the official moving and storage partner for Lexington Habitat for Humanity.
"Giving back to the community and supporting our local nonprofits is our business social responsibility at PODS," said David and Ken Kocon, operations managers for PODS Lexington. "We take great pride in providing our moving and storage logistics to charity events in order to ensure that our community is well taken care of."
According to PR News, a "Communities and Citizenship" survey performed by Havas Worldwide agency found that 60 percent of the 10,000 respondents would like their favorite brands to help their local communities, while 68 percent believe businesses are as responsible as governments for driving positive social change. PODS Lexington has already made plans to continue to support these local nonprofits throughout 2013 by using social media and other marketing channels to help the charities spread the word for their particular needs.
