PODS of Memphis Helps 'Build' Dreams with Local Nonprofit

Five PODS® containers are donated to help out Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis' International Home Builders Blitz, June 4 - 8

PODS of Memphis has teamed up with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Memphis and the Memphis Area Home Builders Association (MAHBA) to kickoff Habitat for Humanity International's Home Builders Blitz 2012.

Between June 4 - 8, five donated PODS® containers will store tools, wood and other supplies as local homebuilding professionals work alongside Memphis Habitat volunteers to build five homes in Memphis Habitat's Trinity Park development. The five homes will complete the development's 38 home community.

"This is an incredible opportunity for PODS of Memphis to be involved with a community outreach program," said Kevin Sharp, manager for PODS of Memphis. "We are pleased to support the Home Builders Blitz and do our part to help less fortunate people have an affordable home."

Habitat's Home Builders Blitz is a partnership between Habitat affiliates and the building community to build and renovate homes across the country. Builders and Habitat affiliates work closely together to organize all aspects of building, including securing subcontractors and suppliers, fundraising and seeking donations of materials. The nationwide project will include over 80 Habitat affiliates and seeks to build and renovate more than 200 homes, including 63 in Tennessee. Memphis Habitat is building 10 homes as part of Home Builders Blitz, the last of five of which will be constructed June 4 - 8.

"Home Builders Blitz is an incredible undertaking," said Dwayne Spencer, executive director of Memphis Habitat. "With such a short timeframe, we have a great need for storage; essentially for all the building supplies that will need to be on site at the beginning of the build! We want to thank PODS of Memphis for providing PODS® containers for the Home Builders Blitz."

Memphis is also serving as the national kick-off city for Habitat for Humanity International's Home Builders Blitz 2012 and Emmy Award-winning television personality Steve Thomas ("This Old House") will work alongside local builders and Memphis Habitat on Monday, June 4.
