Roberta Hoskie is determined to close the wealth gap for Black families across the United States

Roberta Hoskie is innovative, educated, solutions-driven, passionate with helping others, and her enthusiasm is absolutely contagious.

The popular U.S. real estate agent based in New Haven, Connecticut, is on a mission to help close the systematic wealth gap by creating wealth opportunities and fast-tracking the homeownership process for Black families.

Called 1,000 Black Families, this is the first-of-its-kind philanthropic real-estate movement the U.S. has witnessed, and it will definitely help end the cycle of poverty that’s lasted for generations across the USA.

The 1,000 Black Families initiative launched on Oct. 1, 2020. Those who become a client, an affiliate, or real estate partner, will help fund the campaign through their efforts in sales or donations.

Hoskie knows first-hand the struggles Black families face, but with determination, she succeeded in the arena of real estate.

When she was a single mother making minimum wage in the 1990s, she managed to find a way to purchase real estate and rent out rooms to pay down the mortgage. Fast forward to the sale and that investment turned into a quarter-of-a-million-dollar-opportunity.

She is the founder and CEO of Outreach Realty Services and Outreach School of Real Estate and holds an Associate Degree from Gateway Community and Technical College. She has also studied business management at Quinnipiac University, and she shined on the state and national stage after taking an internship at Yale University at 20 years of age and bought a home through Yale’s home buying program.

Now she wants to help other Black Americans discover the power of real estate and in turn to help empower them for a brighter future, one filled with endless opportunities.

“What impact will 1,000 Black Families have? I know it's going to have a major impact as this is a massive movement,” says Hoskie during an interview. “We already have 98 partners spreading the word about the program, and everyone is calling and emailing me about the initiative – and the funny thing is that we haven’t even done any marketing yet. Word of mouth is helping big time, but this is going to explode when we launch on Oct. 1, 2020.”

Hoskie came up with 1,000 Black Families a few years ago, and she sped up the launch in order to address the current socio-political climate in the US.

“The solution is to provide Black families with access to real estate. When you take away poverty and allow people to have access to wealth, then the whole system changes. When you have a more united system, then we will close the wealth gap forever. Everything, I mean everything, will change for the better on every level.”
