Popular Soul Food Cleveland Restaurant Opens Its Doors Again August 8th After Being Gone 7 Years

The once highly popular soul food restaurant, Phil the Fire, in Shaker Heights, Ohio, opened its doors again at 11 a.m. on August, 8th, but in a new location in Beachwood, Ohio.

Phil Davis, founder of Phil the Fire's soul food restaurant, reopened its doors after seven years of inactivity. This time it is in Beachwood's Fairfield Inn where the former Houlihan's restaurant used to be.

Phil The Fire, once a thriving Sunday brunch restaurant that started in Cleveland Heights, once again offers southern and comfort food for the soul.

Davis believes this is the right time.

"If I were ever going to reopen, I would have to feel it's the right time with the right people," said Davis. "I believe the time has come again to bring southern-style cooking and flair back to Northeast Ohio."

Ten years ago, Davis, a dreamer with a passion for cooking, turned a catchy name and the love for chicken and waffles, into one of Cleveland's most-popular restaurants.

At its peak, his restaurant drew tons of famous diners, many of them star athletes and politicians from all over the country.

The restaurant unfortunately closed its doors in 2004, but Davis is preparing to regain his footing as a restaurant owner in Northeast, Ohio, offering the same delicious, homemade southern-style food, just in a new location.

Phil the Fire features the best soul-satisfying recipes for delicious combinations of hot, golden waffles smothered with maple syrup, savory fried chicken and hot sauce, cheesy casseroles, juicy meatloaf, creamy mac and cheese, homemade desserts, and more!

The staff includes two of the original cooks and generated about 70 new jobs.

The menu also closely resembles the original that attracted tons of patrons.

Davis knows that second chances don't always happen, and he isn't taking this one-of-a-kind opportunity lightly.

"I feel so fortunate to receive a second chance with my dream," said Davis. "When you fall down, you have to wipe yourself off and start again."

Davis is excited to share with us his new sweet potato pecan pie. And Cleveland anxiously awaits to try it.
