Port Of Subs Las Vegas Takes A Bite Out Of Hunger

Online, January 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - They went through 250 pounds of steak and sold nearly one thousand sandwiches. The Port of Subs Las Vegas co-op volunteered their time and food at a recent local tasting event to raise $1,000 for the Las Vegas City Mission.

"It's very important to us at Port of Subs to take the necessary time and effort to support those within our community," said Gary Estrada, president of the Las Vegas Port of Subs co-op, a group of independent franchise owners that operate 40 local locations. "We knew the Mission needed help feeding its own patrons and wanted to make it easier for them by using the means and food that we have to offer."

Estrada said the group unifies its giving efforts about once a year to help those in need and has also given to "Christmas in April" and the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Individual Port of Subs locations also sponsor families during the holidays to provide food and gifts for parents and their children.

"Port of Subs as a whole, and within each community where our restaurants are located, take great pride in giving back and providing support whenever we can," stated Mike Powell, president of Port of Subs Inc. "We are very pleased with the donation that was given to the Las Vegas City Mission."
