Portway International Offers Expanded Suite of eManifest Services
New Services Support Freight Forwarders in Advance of November 7, 2016 CBSA Milestone
Mississauga, ON, October 27, 2016 (Newswire.com) - As the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) continues to deploy its rollout of new eManifest Requirements for Freight Forwarders, Portway International introduces a suite of services to support the industry. The CBSA program, which has been launching in phases over the last decade, calls for the electronic transmission of cargo and conveyance to be delivered electronically to CBSA from all ground carriers, and will require secondary data from freight forwarders. This will allow CBSA to pre-screen all shipments prior to their arrival, ultimately resulting in shorter wait times. The phase launching on November 7, 2016 calls for electronic filing of advance importer data from importer filing on their own behalf or their assigned brokers. Portway International, which boasts a 99.9% accuracy rate for customs entry processing, has the ability to handle this task on behalf of freight forwarders.
The timing for Portway International’s announcement couldn’t be better, with the next phase of eManifest requirements taking effect in less than a month. This transition phase, wherein penalties for non-compliance with the program will not be issued, will allow the agency will work with freight forwarders on any necessary corrective measures. The transition phase will be in effect through January 11, 2017, at which time non-financial, zero-rated penalties will be issued against those who do not comply. Financial and other penalties will be issued beginning in July 12, 2017.
With our extensive knowledge of customs procedures, decades of experience supporting the industry, and unmatched accuracy rate, we can help freight forwarders leverage eManifest to their advantage - and completely avoid the risk of penalties.
