According to Apple itself, Apple made Apple Mail compatible with Microsoft Exchange Server to entice businesses to convert to Apple products as their workplace devices. This is a wonderful solution if your a 90%+ PC company and want to connect a couple of Apple devices to sync up. Still to this day approximately 93% of all businesses in the USA use a form of Exchange for their business email needs.
