Practice Management Institute To Talk To Physician Staff About ICD-10 Preparedness In San Antonio December 9
Online, November 20, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Practice Management Institute® (PMI) today announced that its faculty member, Sunjanel Avecilla, will speak to a group of medical office professionals in San Antonio December 9, to help prepare them for the transition to the new diagnostic coding system, ICD-10-CM.
The meeting will take place on Thursday, December 6 at Fleming's Steakhouse at 255 E. Basse Rd. in the Quarry from 5-8 p.m. Complimentary cocktails and dinner will be provided along with the presentation and question and answer period.
PMI faculty member, Sunjanel Avecilla, EMT-P, CMC, CPC, CMIS, CMOM, will discuss how offices can work toward a seamless transition to the new coding system, which is set to replace the current ICD-9-CM coding classifications in October of 2014. The 60-minute session will discuss:
• Key steps needed to take to ensure ICD-10-CM preparedness
• How enhanced documentation training is required to support the detail in ICD-10-CM.
• The impact of ICD-10 transition on EHRs
• Examples of crosswalks to help understand differences in coding systems
• Use of flags in the mapping system
