Benefit Prayer Walk on Valentine's Day, Tibetan and Chinese New Year, 2/14/2010

An Exceptional Gift for Your Loved Ones this Valentines Day

Berkeley, CA February 9, 2010 - Candy is sweet, and flowers are fragrant, but if you really want to show someone how much you love them this Valentine's Day, you can sponsor a prayer walk on the sacred ground of Odiyan (Cazadero, CA) for the benefit of your beloved, family and friends. This year, February 14th is coincidentally Valentine's Day, Chinese New Year and Losar, the Tibetan New Year. 2010 is the year of the "Iron" Tiger, known to be generous to the poor, protective of the underdog, brave, ferocious and intelligent.

For centuries, the acreage upon which Odiyan stands had been sacred to the Pomo Indians of the California coastal range, who called it the Land of the Condor. Since 1975, under the direction of Tarthang Rinpoche, over 1,500 acres of rolling hills in Sonoma County have been blessed and empowered by the construction of temples, stupas, and the power over 30 years of offerings and ceremonies. A virtual ocean of blessings radiates from the Enlightenment Stupa's special form, prayer wheels, relics of Gautama Buddha and Tibetan masters.

At sunrise on Feb 14th, Odiyan residents will begin walking clockwise (circumambulating) around the Odiyan Enlightenment Stupa with your prayer requests and flowers in hand, praying for the positive fulfillment of your wishes. The walk will continue until all the offerings are completed, step by step, praying for healing and positive change while focusing on the particular intention of each individual's prayer. The day will be punctuated by the radiant sounds of horns, conch shells and ringing bells filling the air, broadcasting your prayerful intentions.
