Preh Climate Control System Featured On New Porsche 911

Simple elegance and optimal function mark dual-zone electronics on 2012 Porsche 911.

For the center console of the new Porsche 911 models, Preh has developed a climate control system with a corresponding two-zone temperature control algorithm, and has launched it into mass production. The operating system has built-in buttons to adjust the seat ventilation and heating functions. Produced at Preh's headquarters in Bad Neustadt, Germany, it comes in three variants.

A special feature of Preh's solution is an individualized comfort control for the driver and passenger using a fanless temperature sensor. The sensor was placed in the interior of the Porsche 911 as a separate element to ensure optimal conditions for design and function.

For the air conditioning control concept, special function algorithms had to be developed to ensure climate comfort during engine start and stop operations. Here the software concept prioritizes components and actions in the control system while regulating thermal and energy management issues.

Another special feature is the electronic integration of the climate control system, in which the electronics serve not only the climate control function, but also as a master switch unit for chassis control functions.
