Preserve Our Legacy Calls on Minority Americans for Help with 45-Day Campaign to Register Bone Marrow, PBSC and Umbilical Cord Blood Donors for 2011

Partners with Harlem Hospital, Celebrities and various minority groups throughout America starting March 1, 2011

There are thousands of minority patients struggling to find a donor on the National Registry when faced with the dilemma of needing a bone marrow, PBSC or umbilical cord blood transplants. However, there is one organization that has galvanized support to introduce a 45-day awareness campaign throughout America to help those minority patients in need starting March 1, 2011. Preserve Our Legacy, Inc. a 501(c) (3) not-for-profit that spearheaded Jaden's Law and educating individuals, especially minorities, about the benefits of stem cells through these treatment options, has partnered with Harlem Hospital, Celebrities and various minority groups to create the awareness within the minority community.

Preserve Our Legacy, Inc's co-founder, Shana Melius, recently appeared on BET's 106 & Park with client LJ Jones to assist in increasing awareness and explaining the registration process. She also registered BET's hosts Terrence and Rosci as well as various members of the BET production team and audience members, to try to help a patient in need. The organization recently announced their goal of registering 25,000 minority donors for 2011. These donors would provide thousands of minority patients that are in need the "fighting" chance to live, especially, 10-year old LJ, 5-year old Nyiah, 13-year old Shakobe, 11-year old Isaiah and various other minority patients throughout America.

Since Jaden's death, Preserve Our Legacy has been advocating to increase awareness about the need of minority donors, in addition to, having those that register to step up when called to help a patient. Preserve Our Legacy also launched its P.O.L Umbilical Cord Blood program at Harlem Hospital in December 2010. "We are excited about the overwhelming support we have received from the community in response to our efforts, we look forward to helping more patient's find a match" says, Shana Melius, Co-Founder of Preserve Our Legacy.

Beginning March 1, 2011, Preserve Our Legacy, Inc. will partner the NAACP, Fredrick E. Samuel Community Democrat Club, the National Black Caucus of Local Elected Officials, Marrow Nation as well as many other groups, organizations and individuals for a series of events along with bone marrow drives during the 45-days of awareness throughout America to help register minority donors. All events will be posted on http://www.preserveourlegacy.org/events.
