Product By Design Unveil New Product Design Studio In Bristol, UK

Product by Design unveil their new creative studio in a top spec Bristol eco development. With solar panels, rainwater harvesting, and walls made of yoghurt pots, Product by Design's new studio in Bristol has environmental responsibility built in.

Product by Design have today unveiled their brand new product design studio, after completing a fit-out in an environmentally friendly unit, in Bristol. The building boasts an array of the latest technologies, reducing dependance on mains utilities, supplementing water use with rainwater harvesting, and power use with a roof packed with solar panels. When the team need more warmth, a communual wood-chip boiler will gently heat the passive building, ensuring a constant ambient environment, allowing designers and engineers alike to focus on their creativity.

While the building has environmental responsibility built in, the primary objective of the new studio development was to encourage collaboration, and inspire both the creative team, and visiting clients.

The new studio boasts a slatted work bench of natural timber, running the end-to-end length of the building - providing a single workspace for designers, design engineers, and account managers to focus, share and inspire each other. At the floating end of the work bench is a collaborative, and informal meeting space, designed for ad hoc conversations, quick sketches and brainstorming - all the while facilitating those working nearby to jump in and out of conversation as they too, are inspired.

Additional features include an Ideas Tree - a life-size wooden tree in the entrance of the studio, blossoming in post-it notes and creative ideas. The tree is the go-to place for inspiration, challenging thoughts, and quirky ideas, that just don't fit into a project at the moment. By capturing all these thoughts together, the team can collaborate on those golden nuggets of inspiration during their self-development time.

A range of different seating, from executive swivel chairs to dining room seats, and even exercise balls are designed to keep the team moving around, and provide a daily stimulus of change.

With the establishment of their newly fitted premises, Product by Design are looking to grow their creative team. They're recruiting product designers and design engineers on freelance terms, to support the rising client demand for their user centred product design services.
