Project C.U.R.E. Joins #Heart4Heroes to Support Healthcare Workers in Rural America

The initiative also includes Angel Flight West, Angel Flight Central, the Civil Air Patrol, and the National Rural Health Association as additional partnering organizations.

#Heart4Heroes

Project C.U.R.E. has partnered with #Heart4Heroes to raise awareness and donations to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for health care workers in rural areas across the United States. The initiative also includes Angel Flight West, Angel Flight Central, the Civil Air Patrol, and the National Rural Health Association as additional partnering organizations.

The United States has become a global hot-spot for COVID-19, with the most confirmed cases and the most deaths in the world.  The pandemic is exposing the disparity of health care resources between urban and rural areas. According to the National Rural Health Association, 61% of rural hospitals do not have any ICU beds. Many of them do not have a single ventilator.

While rural areas of the country have some advantages in battling COVID-19 such as built-in social distancing from the geographic dispersion of populations, most rural hospitals are over-matched in the struggle against COVID-19.

The #Heart4Heroes initiative was started in order to fill the need of extreme shortages in small communities who face the greatest risk of hospital closures. These communities depend on these hospitals not only for jobs, but for the health, safety, and protection of their families and loved ones.

Many of these hospitals have shut down almost 70% of outpatient services in an effort to conserve PPE and protect their local residents from the spread of the virus. The smaller and rural hospitals that are at the most risk typically have less than 60 days of cash reserves and find themselves at the end of the traditional supply line.

We all know somebody who is affected in some way by COVID-19, so please join us in making a difference. There are multiple ways to get involved with #Heart4Heroes so please visit Heart4Heroes.org or email [email protected] to find out how. We are looking for individuals and corporate sponsors to step up and help us protect our at-risk communities.
