Project Wayfinder Announces Its Summer Institutes and Higher Ed Purpose Symposium at Stanford University
BERKELEY, Calif., February 19, 2019 (Newswire.com) - Project Wayfinder is now accepting applications for the 2019 Wayfinder Summer Institutes. Designed at Stanford University’s d.school, Project Wayfinder uses a wayfinding metaphor to equip students with tools and skills to create purposeful lives. The institutes will bring together educators from around the world for training to implement Project Wayfinder in the classroom.
Educators will develop strategies to integrate social-emotional learning, project-based learning, design thinking and 21st Century Skills into schools and community programs. Wayfinder Summer Institutes are open to high school educators including advisers, administrators, counselors, teachers, coaches, and more.
“Wayfinder’s summer training proved to be the most positively transformative training program I have ever undertaken as an educator,” said Brent Kerehona of Cabramatta High School in Australia. “The training reinforced my view that not only can we guide and support students to live meaningful lives, we can also affect so many more people through the projects and movements they create.”
The 2019 Institutes will be hosted by two Wayfinder Partner Schools with a residential option at the West Coast Institute:
West Coast Institute - San Anselmo, CA
- June 17-21, 2019
- 4-day, 4-night Wayfinder residential retreat and training at San Domenico School
East Coast Institute - Durham, NC
- July 9-12, 2019
- 4-day Wayfinder training hosted at Durham Academy

In addition to the high school trainings this summer, Project Wayfinder will host a select group of 30 college educators to help shape the growing purpose learning movement in higher education.
The 2019 Wayfinder Purpose Symposium for Higher Education will be hosted at Stanford University in Palo Alto, Calif., Tuesday, July 30 - Thursday, August 1, 2019.
College and university educators, administrators, deans, and counselors will explore the science and philosophy of purpose and engage in collaborations to support Project Wayfinder’s college purpose-learning toolkit, currently being prototyped at the University of California, Berkeley, Stanford University, and Brown University. Attending educators will be invited to partner in piloting the curriculum in the upcoming school year.
