“There are many ways we learn and grow,” said Mike V., the Owner of Prospect Solutions. “Getting together with colleagues from all over the nation is one of them. Ashley, Benny, and I recently returned from a leadership conference, which was a truly enriching experience. Our goal in attending was to get exposure to the larger scale of the industry – and we certainly exceeded that objective.”

Mike explained that the ability to travel together offers the Prospect Solutions associates valuable bonding time. They can fully focus on one another when they aren’t preoccupied by their daily office duties, so they’re closer and more collaborative when they do return to their work. They also do a lot of formal learning when they go to conferences, of course. The latest gathering offered seminars and presentations on subjects ranging from consumer behavior and demographic research to business management and goal setting.

The biggest point he makes is that networking is not about selling anything. “I also like to remind my colleagues how good networking is for them – personally and professionally,” Mike concluded. “Every connection they make has the potential to develop into a mentorship or some other partnership. It could also lead to referrals, speaking and writing engagements, and all sorts of career support down the road. Speaking from experience, I can also say that networking leads to lasting friendships. When I get together with many of my contacts, we go beyond business. We relax, have dinner, and enjoy all sorts of fun activities. This is what I want for my people, and why I encourage them to network every chance they get.”
