PSA Enters Oil and Gas Industry Market
Online, July 20, 2010 (Newswire.com) - PSA has signed a contract with worldwide leader in the design, manufacture, and sale of comprehensive systems and components used in oil and gas drilling and production. The project includes implementation of a web based reporting application design what will improve functionality of the customer's Drill Integrated Business System used to receive and import summary report data electronically on multiple oil rigs and automatically update a central server.
Two PSA specialists have kicked off the project with multiple week onsite sessions scheduled to specify requirements and architecture design for the reporting application. The design includes user interface pages and controls, database tables, and programmatic service interfaces required by modules of the web application.
According to Alexander Shulinin, PSA Business Analyst who is staying at the customer's site, a specific feature of the project is to develop an enhanced user interface for a web based application. This interface should have considerably feature-rich functionality similar to many desktop applications.
Implementation of the web based application shall use a combination of technologies namely ASP.NET with MPVC design pattern applied with Microsoft SQL 2010 database and Microsoft Reporting Service as well as the 3rd party AJAX components to provide for a rich user interface. Careful attention is to be paid to development of a reporting framework which shall be capable to create and render different types of PDF, Excel, and chart reports.
Development activities for the project are scheduled to take one year to complete and shall require approximately 18,000 man hours of development. The selection of PSA to compete this project is a continued indicator of PSA's abilities to meet the requirements of its most demanding customers.
