PSS Teams Up With BumbleBee Foods for Successful Mid-Blizzard DSD Program
PSS Distribution Services, in conjunction with BumbBee foods completes successful direct store delivery program during the region's largest snow storms.
Online, February 19, 2010 (Newswire.com) - PSS Distribution Services, the Northeast's premier 3PL distribution services provider since 1983, in conjunction with BumbleBee Foods, recently completed a 90 store Direct Store Delivery (DSD) program despite adverse weather conditions during one of the region's largest snow storms.
"The DSD program with our client BumbleBee Foods has been carefully planned and scheduled several weeks in advance," reports Gary Borne, President of PSS Warehousing & Transportation. "What we didn't plan on was over 25 inches of snow right in the middle of our February delivery."
The DSD program had been scheduled for February 9-11 and consisted of delivering specific BumbleBee items to 90 Pathmark stores between New York and Delaware. During this period, the Northeast experienced one of the heaviest snow storms in decades, increasing the complexity of the deliveries. Postponing the DSD program was not an option as the products needed to be delivered before the start of a large advertising campaign.
"Working closely with BumbleBee and having the cooperation of the stores and dedicated PSS drivers made it possible for each delivery to get to each store on time. This kind of teamwork proves that the DSD program will be beneficial for all," states Borne.
