Psychiatric Medical Care (PMC), one of the nation's largest providers of mental health services, announces P. Paul Smith, Jr., FACHE as its new chief operations officer. Smith brings more than 30 years of leadership in the healthcare industry to PMC, including experience overseeing behavior health operations for acute care hospitals.

"I am thrilled to have Paul join our team," said PMC's Chief Executive Officer, J.R. Greene, FACHE. "An exciting future is ahead. We are confident that with Paul's extensive experience and expertise in healthcare operations, we will continue to expand our services and reach more people in need of mental health support."

Before joining PMC, Smith was group president at Bon Secours Mercy Health, the country's fifth-largest Catholic healthcare ministry, where he oversaw operations in four markets that included 15 hospitals. Prior to that role, Smith served as a division president for Community Health Systems, where he provided executive leadership to operations teams supporting 26 acute care hospitals in six states. He supported the creation and execution of strategic plans to grow revenue and EBITDA, and improve patient outcomes. Smith also spent 14 years with Health Management Associates, serving as vice president and chief executive officer of Lake Norman Regional Medical Center in North Carolina.

"It is an honor to join an organization so dedicated to mental health," Smith said. "PMC is built on a culture of kindness and accountability, and I've witnessed that from day one. This company is redefining mental health treatment by developing programs focused on patient outcomes and ensuring high levels of care and compliance in every community we serve."

Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts in business administration and marketing from Mercer University, a Master of Business, and a Master of Health Administration from Georgia State University. He and his family live in the Nashville area.
