Praesto Engineering Company is now a sales representative of Duflon Ltd. in Australia. Duflon is a leading manufacturer and supplier of Fluoropolymer and Fluoropolymer lined components for Chemical, Processing and General Engineering industries. Praesto Engineering Company (PEC) is an Engineering Design and Consultancy company based in Perth, Australia. PEC was formed to provide engineering services and products to the Oil/gas, Mining, Process and Manufacturing industries. PEC's core competencies include pressure vessel design, heat exchanger design, valve design, Solidworks design, engineering consultancy and FEA. PEC also offers "bolts and fasteners" and Pipe flanges to the industry.

Being a representative of Duflon, PEC can now supply valve and pump components manufactured from Fluoropolymer materials. Flouropolymers are characterized by their strong resistance to solvents, acids and oils. Various Fluoropolymer options available from PEC are Glass filled PTFE, Carbon Filled PTFE, PFA, ETFE, UHMWPE, NXT, TFM, PP and PVDF. Other special grades are also available. PEC offers components for ball valve, butterfly valve, diaphragm valve, plug valve and pumps. The components include valve body, ball, stem, flange, seats, plug, sleeve, diaphragm, impeller, rotor, discs etc. These components are manufactured either by moulding or machining.

PTFE (Poly Tetra Flouro Ethylene) is a widely used material among the Flouropolymers because of its unique properties. The most known brand name of PTFE is Teflon which is manufactured by DuPont Company. PTFE was accidentally discovered in 1938 by Dr. Roy Plunkett from the DuPont Laboratory, in New Jersey while he was working on refrigerants.

PTFE offers high chemical resistance and is inert to almost all known chemicals. It is attacked only by molten alkali metals and by fluorine at high temperatures. It also offers low and high temperature capability, resistance to weathering, low friction, electrical and thermal insulation, and "slipperiness". PTFE's mechanical properties are low compared to other plastics, but its properties remain at a useful level over a wide temperature range of -73°C to 204°C. PTFE has exceptional thermal resistance so that it can be used at prolonged temperatures of 2600C and up to 3200C for limited period.

PTFE's mechanical properties can be enhanced by adding fillers such as glass fibres, carbon, graphite, molybdenum disulphide, and bronze. Generally, filled PTFE's maintain their excellent chemical and high temperature characteristics, while fillers improve mechanical strength, thermal stability, hardness, and wear resistance. PTFE is very dense and cannot be melt-processed, so it must be compressed and sintered to form useful shapes similar to powder metallurgy process.
