Qatar Hailed For Promoting Human Rights

The Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM) has hailed Qatar for polices of protecting human rights.

Dr. Naseer Homoud, Goodwill Ambassador and Director of Middle East office for the Intergovernmental Institution for the use of Micro-algae Spirulina against Malnutrition (IIMSAM), the Permanent Observer to the United Nations Economic and Social Council lauded policies of Qatar in promoting and defending human rights in Qatar and beyond.

The statement issued from IIMSAM Middle East Office said "from the outset, the State of Qatar has been an enthusiastic supporter of United Nations impulses and actions for promoting and ensuring the protection to its people against violation of human rights. The State of Qatar has continuously advocated the principles of liberty, democracy, respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms and the rule of law. The strong adherence to these norm and foundations under vibrant and wise leadership of His Highness The Emir has laid way for multifaceted success of Qatar and its wide recognition on the globe".

Dr. Homoud said "The Emir of the State of Qatar, His Highness Sheik Hamad Bin Khalifa Al-Thani and Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned are among those eminent personalities who believe in the common humanity of all and dream of a world where all can live in dignity and security. Indeed, they are champion of human rights and their unconditional support for human rights is praiseworthy and deserves appreciation from all corners". Dr. Homoud pointed attention towards the Qatar National Vision-2030 terming it as a landmark for championing human rights. He said "IIMSAM commends the significant efforts made by Qatar to meet its human rights commitments and welcomes the progress made in ensuring a high level of human development for its citizens and residents as well".

Dr. Homoud lauded the efforts and programmes of Qatar National Human Rights Committee in ensuring and defending human rights in Qatar. "NHRC undeniably emerged as the shield for the peoples- both citizens and expatriates in State of Qatar for protection of the most fundamental rights for which every human being is legitimately entitled for", said Dr. Homoud. He appreciated the role of NHRC and hoped that the noble work being undertaken by NHRC shall gain more momentum from the support of public and private entities. Dr. Homoud further contended "the sincere and honest efforts of NHRC for advocating, preserving and enforcing human rights in Qatar is itself exemplary and I urge people to support and appreciate NHRC in its endeavors".

Dr. Homoud also lauded the recent initiative of NHRC to provide free legal assistance to the concerned people who are unable to bear the legal expenses to ensure that free and fair trail of any matter pertaining to human rights violation is operative. Recently NHRC reached with agreement with few lawyers in Qatar which would empanel the needy persons before the courts of Qatar in related trails. Appreciating this move Dr. Homoud said "the plan of NHRC to provide free legal assistance for the people who are unable to bear the legal expenses in an exceptional arrangement to ensure the basic principle of natural justice".
