Online, October 31, 2012 (Newswire.com) - The last academic year at FORE School of Management was a rush of numerous initiatives by ANTAR - the CSR wing of FORE School of Management - with events like Sanrakshan(Green initiatives), Vastrasamman (collection and distribution of clothes, in association with 'Goonj') and Abhivaadan(Care for the Aged) winning recognition from all quarters. But if the first quarter is anything to go by, then 2012-13 is going to be even more eventful than 2011-12.
Session 2012-13 began with an extensive collaboration between Team ANTAR & Fore Sports & Cultural Division and the Rotary Blood Bank, with the aim of organising a blood donation camp. The build-up to the event was quite exhaustive, as the initiative was not just restricted to the students of FORE School of Management, but encouraged students from neighbouring institutions like IIFT and IMI to participate in the good cause as well.
The day-long blood donation camp, 'Raktdaan', was scheduled for the 30thof July 2012 at the FORE campus in New Delhi. The pre-event registration saw an overwhelming response from the student community. 68 student volunteers were able to donate blood during the allotted time. . It is worth mentioning that few students of IMI came forward for the noble cause even though they had their mid-term exams on the day of the event.
"Blood Donation at FSM was above our expectations this year," observed Mr. Vishal, a member of the Rotary Club. "We expected around 45 units of blood, but the enthusiasm among students was amazing. We were really stretched to our limits in terms of our stock of blood bags. The support from the students and staff of FSM is appreciable and has motivated us to organise more such events in future."
Apart from the donor card, every donor was also a proud recipient of a token of appreciation by the Rotary Club. It was also announced that donors could expect their detailed blood report to reach them within 15 days.
'Sanrakshan' this year was organised on the 30th of September 2012. It may be recollected that last year, this one day event was organised in December, and 18 different institutions in the Qutub Institutional areas benefitted from this 'go-green' drive of FORE School of Management. This year, the number of institutes covered were 20, transforming the entire landscape of the area.
Kick-starting the campaign by planting the first sapling within the FORE School of Management , New Delhi campus, Professor Vinay Dutta, Faculty Mentor, urged the volunteers from FORE School of Management to sow the seeds of a green future.
"It feels great to volunteer for such a cause!" said Irfan Warsi, FMG-21, FORE School of Management. "Global warming is a nasty monster which is staring at us today and this is the most effective way to banish it - plant more trees."
Members of Team Antar also took upon took upon themselves the responsibility of sensitising and motivating children studying in nearby schools, on methods of conserving energy and the importance of protecting the environment. Clearly, CSR activities at FORE School of Management are all set totake a giant leap forward in 2012-13.
