Quick Tankwa Run | South Africa
There is something magical about this vast, arid landscape that makes you want to go back again and again.
Somerset West, South Africa, December 29, 2015 (Newswire.com) - There is something magical about this vast, arid landscape that makes you want to go back again and again. The shear beauty of the big open spaces draws you closer and closer as the Tankwa communicates to you in deafening silence.
Nothing beats watching the sun go down behind the Cederberg mountain range after a thrilling day riding in and around the Tankwa Karoo's plains and passes.
I eagerly grab every opportunity I get to visit the area. It was a no-brainer when Donford Motorrad invited us to join their ride!
Tankwa Karoo National Park is one of a few parks where you are allowed to enter with a motorcycle. You can travel from the Drakensberg's back-roads through the park to Middelpos or Sutherland via spectacular passes i.e. Biedouw valley, Katbakkies, Gannaga or Ouberg pass.
So many beautiful, little gravel roads to explore, the possibilities are endless! It is an adventure motorcyclist's heaven, one wishes the day never ends!
After the excitement of the day, the Karoo greets you with its clear night skies filled with bright stars. You often find yourself gazing into the skies, reminiscing about the day's ride, dreaming of new routes to explore, or simply just processing this immense space you find yourself in.
