R&B/Pop Singer Mayra Shows She Has Heart and Style
Online, October 16, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Singer Mayra, the new fashionista on the scene, arrived at a intimate benefit in support of UNIFEM's Say NO To Violence Against Women Campaign." looking like the rising star she is. She wore a Jacket (The Sinner In You-Khari by Kharianne Kerr) that had the room asking, "who are you wearing". Her shoes (Madison Ave Boutique) were to die for, and along with a gorgeous pair of earrings (Analise Earrings by Elizabethan), she wore a sexy body hugging black dress.
However, on this night it wasn't about the clothes nor the shoes. "It's about coming out in support of an organization who's purpose is protecting and promoting awareness of violence against women." For those who don't know, October is Domestic Violence Awarness Month
Last year 5,066,549 people from around the world, civil society organizations and governments signed on to Say NO, sending the urgent message to governments everywhere that ending violence against women and girls must be a top priority.
This November, UNIFEM will take the initiative one step further and launch a new platform for action, Say NO-UNiTE to End Violence against Women. It is UNIFEM's contribution to the UN Secretary-General's campaign to end violence against women involving governments, civil society and the entire UN system.
Say NO-UNiTE will count and showcase actions taken by individuals, organizations and governments worldwide to end violence against women. Whether you volunteer at a shelter, reach out to students, advocate for better laws and policies - every action counts.
