Radcliffe Group, a STM publisher and digital media producer of cardiovascular, renal and metabolic content announces Dr Peter O'Kane as the new editor-in-chief of their journal, Interventional Cardiology: Reviews, Research and Resources

Dr O'Kane was appointed as a consultant interventional cardiologist at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital in July 2007 and has performed more than 7,000 PCI cases. He has extensive experience with coronary physiology and intra-coronary imaging to guide intervention and the many tools and techniques to manage bifurcations, calcification and chronic occlusions.

He is committed to teaching and has trained many physicians both in the UK and internationally in devices such as rotational and laser atherectomy and developing technical skills such as those involved in bifurcation stenting and coronary imaging utilisation. He has presented at many cardiology conferences and performed as a live case operator. He has contributed to 30 global research studies as a local principal investigator with a high provision of randomised patients and has co-authored more than 50 manuscripts in addition to 10 book chapters.

With such a keen interest in clinical and academic cardiology, Dr O'Kane is very excited to take this position. "It is a great privilege to accept the position of EiC for ICR3 and work alongside a fantastic team of clinicians, academics and editors in this well-established publishing house. I will bring my cardiology experience to build on the strong foundations of the journal and develop strategies to promote original research submission whilst maintaining the recognised high quality of reviews and clinical resources that have been synonymous with Radcliffe Group and have undoubtedly guided patient care across the world", said Dr O'Kane.

Radcliffe Cardiology would like to thank Dr Simon Kennon for his editorship of ICR over the last seven years and wish him well. He will continue to remain involved with the ICR journal as an editorial board member, supporting the incumbent Editor-in-Chief.

At the same time, ICR is changing its title to Interventional Cardiology: Reviews, Research, Resources (ICR3) and has now opened to receive submissions of original research. This is the next step in the journal's development, and we are thrilled about the exciting opportunities to come.
