Ram Group Announces Breakthrough in Non-Invasive Cardio-Pulmonary Monitoring Wearables

New Single-Point Sensor Platform Enables Non-Invasive Monitoring of Cardio-Pulmonary Functions

RAM - World's first non-invasive continuous Hemodynamic wearable bracelet for 24/7 hospital/home-care patient monitoring.

Ram Group, a Singaporean based technology firm focused on the development of new smart semiconductor materials and molecular engineering of nano-systems, has just announced a major breakthrough for monitoring cardio-pulmonary function that has the potential to save lives globally and revolutionize the wearables and remote monitoring markets.

Ram Group’s cardio-pulmonary monitoring sensor for wearables is a cutting-edge sensor solution that can substitute for expensive, invasive monitoring equipment requiring surgery, with a powerful, low-cost sensor that can be worn at any contact point on the body.  The current approach to monitoring cardio-pulmonary function requires surgery for pulmonary catheterization or a multiple electrode belt halter. Ram Group’s solution enables continuous monitoring of the cardiopulmonary and circulatory system, but also decreases risks for patients in the event of heart surgery compared to existing approaches. This hemodynamic sensor enables Ram Group to monitor a wide range of biometrics and high-acuity vital signs from a single-point of contact anywhere on the body and is completely non-invasive. The impact of this breakthrough will be to empower a new generation of wearables and remote monitoring solutions that can save lives and reduce costs for consumers and healthcare providers. RAM Group’s innovative wearable technology is set to unleash the full potential of telehealth and telemedicine platforms throughout the medical, health and wellness industries worldwide.

Our groundbreaking advances in Gallium Nitride based sensor technology allows us to go further than any other current non-invasive wearable and medical devices available in the market! These Nano-engineered functional devices provide continual monitoring of a person's complete vital signs, while providing additional data points on well-being, level of awareness/focus, and direct access to various biometrics such as heart rate, lung function to name a few. We believe this is a first in the field of sensor technology, and builds on our published works and clinical testing we have already done.

Ram Group’s hemodynamic monitoring sensor is a patient-centric solution that eliminates the need for surgery and is even more robust than much more expensive, invasive, hospital-based equipment. Ram Group’s sensor not only monitors the right atrium of the heart but can monitor the left-atrium and central venous pressure at the same time without the need for surgery. Utilizing RAM technology wearables can now do more with less invasive approaches. No surgical procedures or invasive probes are required.  RAM Group’s sensor based on revolutionary new class of smart semiconductor material developed by the Company and its partners is extremely powerful and sensitive, a single sensor placed on the body can provide real-time data on heart rate, heart rate variability, left and right atrium pressures, central venous pressure, cuff-less blood pressure, cardiac output, breath dynamics, and provide a complete picture of the entire heart, lungs and circulatory system’s interaction as a single system for the first time by merely coming into contact with the body without the need for electrodes, surgery or any other system components. This is revolutionary in the world of monitoring vital signs, and the first wearable device ever to provide high-acuity monitoring non-invasively in a single integrated chipset. Furthermore, RAM Group’s sensor can help reduce risks and improve patient safety by enabling non-invasive approaches that reduce risks of stroke, seizure, infection and surgical complications associated with traditional approaches.  This technology can help reduce the length of stay in hospitals and the overall risk of hospital-acquired infections and enable remote monitoring of patients at home without the need for the patient to episodically use manual blood pressure readings, for example. This new class of ultra-powerful sensors will enable new devices that are ideal for improving outcomes and saving costs in value-based payment schemes.

One of the most exciting aspects of this technology is the application for neonatal and pre-mature infants non-invasive monitoring. One million pre-mature babies die each year, and three million babies die in their first three months of life throughout the world. A non-invasive technology for monitoring the heart and lungs of pre-mature infants could help to dramatically reduce neonatal deaths. Ram Group, for the first time, is introducing a new technology that can be placed next to the baby or in a sock as well as in the incubator to provide continuous full high-acuity monitoring that will fundamentally change the way healthcare is provided in neonatal care. This technology development has the potential to save millions of infant lives in the coming decades worldwide.

Pending regulatory approvals, the hemodynamics sensor offered by Ram Group promises to empower the next generation of wearables globally, not just in more affluent economies. While current wearables manufacturers are struggling to provide medical-grade sensors with the accuracy of medical devices and hospital-based equipment, Ram Group’s biosensing platform will fill the current gap in the market with medical-grade sensors at an attractive price point that is extremely disruptive to devices dominating the market currently. An additional feature of RAM Group’s sensors are their ultra-low-power sensors and have a negligible impact on battery life of devices in contrast to existing sensors on the market. This opens opportunities for low-cost wearables, applicable to emerging markets where affordable chronic disease monitoring solutions are in short supply given the limitations for battery charging opportunities in many of these regions.

Ram Group will initially focus on the wellness and fitness markets pending approval for medical applications within the next year.  The initial market offering will be focused on health-fitness applications for wearables where our sensor can be deployed in smart-watches, smartphones, or other wearables such as smart clothing.
