Ram Jack, Grantham Engineering Design Repair Solution for Apartment Foundation Settlement
San Diego, California, July 5, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Serious foundation settlement of a two-story apartment building caused doors to stick, trapping inhabitants inside. Ram Jack Pacific and Grantham Engineering quickly assessed the situation and restored the structure’s integrity using steel piles, carbon fiber staples, epoxy and polyurethane foam.
When an eight-unit apartment building began suffering from a severe settlement, a huge problem resulted: doors that would not open. Trapping tenants inside, the issue was one requiring immediate attention. Owners contacted Ram Jack Pacific and Grantham Engineering to design a repair solution. To lift and stabilize the main foundation, 18 steel piles would have to be installed.
In addition, four piles were placed to support a new slab for the laundry room, which had to be removed to access the building’s foundation. Finally, carbon fiber staples coupled with gravity-fed epoxy were used to repair floor cracks, and polyurethane foam was inserted to fill any remaining voids.
