RavenBrick Named "Emerging Cleantech Company of the Year" at CCIA Awards

Denver cleantech company, RavenBrick, was named Emerging Cleantech Company of the Year at the Colorado Cleantech industry Association's annual awards. RavenBrick's smart window can reduce energy costs by up to 40 percent in most buildings.

Colorado smart window company, Ravenbrick, has received the award for Emerging Cleantech Company of the year from the Colorado Cleantech Industry Association (CCIA), as part of the association's annual "Colorado Cleantech Industry Awards Celebration." Eight recipients received awards honoring leadership in advancing cleantech job creation, entrepreneurship, political leadership and financing.

"We are very pleased to be recognized as Emerging Cleantech Company of the Year," said RavenBrick CEO, Alex Burney. "The cleantech industry continues to be an economic success story in Colorado with RavenBrick and other cleantech operations adding jobs at an incredible rate in an otherwise stagnant economy."

Founded in 2007, RavenBrick has developed innovative thermochromic windows that can reduce energy costs by up to 40 percent in most buildings. The company's RavenWindowâ„¢ product, used in commercial, residential and industrial buildings, utilizes nanotechnology to reflect the sun's heat on hot days and let the sunshine in when it's cool.

The company's windows were recently installed at the US Department of Energy's Research Support Facility (RSF) on the campus of the National Renewable Energy Lab (NREL) in Golden, Colorado. The facility is considered one of the world's "greenest" office buildings.

RavenBrick has a manufacturing plant in Denver and plans to expand significantly and hire extensively in 2012 and beyond. RavenBrick has raised $6 million in capital from Colorado-based angels and VCs.

The CCIA award winners were selected based on several criteria, including the company's ability to create an innovative clean technology that has a viable market strategy, the executive team's ability to raise funding to support the technology and the company's statewide job creation. Winners were selected by industry peers ranging from venture capitalists and corporate strategists to current and former technology CEOs.
